Mobile Banking app

We’ve launched a new app that will replace your existing mobile banking app. The new Bank of Ireland mobile app will have all the features of the Bank of Ireland desktop platform, as well as enhanced security. This means you will now be able to:

  • Check and download up to 7 years’ statements
  • Manage direct debits
  • Set up standing orders
  • Keep a closer eye on your money and more – all from your mobile phone.

What do you need to do to get the new app?

To switch over to our new app, there are a few key steps:

  • Register for Online Banking

    Not registered for online banking?

    Getting set up on 365 Online is now easier than ever. When you call us, we will confirm your identity by asking you three simple security questions about you and your account, and then we will get your 365 Online account set up and activated all in the one call.Call us on 1890 365 500 to speak to our activation team now.

  • Make sure your mobile phone number is updated on 365 online

    Here's how:

    Login into 365 Online and choose "Manage Accounts"

    If you can't remember your User ID when logging in, login to your mobile banking app and choose "More" – your User ID will appear at the top of the screen. Alternatively, text "User" to 50365 and we’ll text your User ID back to you.

    Go to "Amend My Mobile Phone Registered for Security Codes"

    If you’ve never provided a mobile phone number, Go to “Register your mobile phone for security codes.” And follow the instructions on screen.

    Check that we have your correct mobile phone number

    If your number is correct, you don’t need to do anything. If your number is incorrect re-register your mobile phone on the above page by entering and confirming your number. You will receive a new activation code in the post in 5 days.

    When you get your activation code

    Login to 365 Online, go to "Amend my mobile phone registered for security codes" and type in the activation code. When you’ve done this, you’re ready to download the new app once it becomes available. Please only use this code to activate your mobile number on 365 Online. Never share this code with anyone, for any reason.

  • Make sure your phone has the latest operating system on it

    Make sure that your phone software is up to date.

    If you have an Android phone, you will need a minimum software version of 6.0 installed. To find out what version you currently have on your phone, please follow the steps below:

    • Go to the "Settings" App
    • Scroll down on the Settings screen and look for an "About phone" or "System" option
    • On that screen, look for "Android version" to find out which version of Android is installed on your device. If you need to update your software version, please follow the steps below:
      • Go to "Settings" App
      • Tap Software Update

    If you have an Apple phone, you will need to have at least iOS 12 software installed. To find out what version you currently have on your phone, please follow the steps below:

    • Go to Settings
    • Go to General
    • Tap About
    • On this screen you will find the version of Apple software installed on your device. If you need to update your software version, please follow the steps below:
      • Go to Settings
      • Go to General
      • Tap Software Update

    • Go to your app store to download the app

      Go to the Play store if you have an Android phone, or the App store if you have an iPhone and search for Bank of Ireland mobile banking.

    • In the coming weeks, we’ll be removing the old version of the mobile app, so we encourage you to get set up as soon as possible.

    How will the new app differ from the current one?

    The new app will make your day-to-day banking experience easier by adding all the features of the Bank of Ireland desktop platform to your new mobile app. You’ll now be able to:

    • View and download up to 7 years’ statements
    • Check transactions in progress
    • Manage your direct debits and standing orders
    • Change your contact details

    The app also comes with enhanced security known as Strong Customer Authentication (SCA).

      You may notice Strong Customer Authentication when you access mobile banking or make certain payments online. We may send you notifications to ask you to confirm that you have authorised a payment, logged in or want to make changes to your accounts.Authentication will be based on the following:Something you own, for example, a smartphone and Something you know, for example, your PIN

    Register a backup device

    SCA links your smartphone to your online banking access. We strongly recommend you also set up the mobile banking app on another smartphone or tablet in case you lose your mobile phone or don’t have it handy when you need to access mobile banking.
