How do I cancel a SEPA Direct Debit?

If you are a Republic of Ireland customer you can cancel a SEPA direct debit by completing and submitting a 'Cancel Direct Debit Mandate' form on the Upgraded Bank of Ireland App, 365 online or the Mobile Banking app.

Business customers:

The easiest way to cancel a direct debit is to use the Bank of Ireland app or 365 online.

You can also cancel a direct debit online here. (You will need the Unique Mandate Reference (UMR) and the Creditor ID of the recipient).

If the recurring payment you wish to cancel is not a direct debit or a standing order you can cancel it here

Log into 365 online then:
  1. Find the direct debit on the transactions of your account.
  2. Tap the + symbol beside the direct debit, to view the details.
  3. Tap 'Cancel' to open a prefilled 'Cancel Direct Debit Mandate' form.
  4. Confirm the details and enter your contact details.
  5. Choose a notification method (if any), and enter your mobile phone number or email.
  6. Tap 'Cancel mandate'.
If the SEPA direct debit is not listed on your transactions, you can find the 'Cancel Direct Debit Mandate' form in 'Manage Accounts', under 'Direct Debit Services'. Not registered for online Banking? Register Now
  1. Log in to your account on the Mobile Banking app.
  2. Tap 'Services' on the bottom menu.
  3. Select 'Cancel Direct Debit'.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  1. Log in to your account on the Upgraded Bank of Ireland App.
  2. Find the direct debit on the transactions screen of your account.
  3. Tap 'View details' next to the direct debit.
  4. Tap 'Cancel' to open a prefilled 'Cancel Direct Debit Mandate' form.
  5. Confirm the details and enter your contact details.
  6. Choose a notification method (if any), and enter your mobile phone number or email.
  7. Tap 'Continue', review and confirm request.
