Bank of Ireland Group today launched its second Responsible Business Report, a comprehensive picture of what happened across the Group in 2015 from the perspective of the bank’s key stakeholders: customers, communities, colleagues and the environment.

Bank of Ireland Group’s 2015 Highlights include:

  • Employees helped to raise over €2.5M in Charitable Giving
  • 1,000+ Volunteer Days

In addition to providing highlights and key statistics, the report contains in-depth articles on some of the Bank’s key initiatives.

Bank of Ireland Group Chief Executive, Richie Boucher said:

“As an international financial services business, Bank of Ireland Group reports formally on the full range of our business activities at specific points in the financial year. This communication with our financial stakeholders is an extremely important demonstration of our business performance. However, we recognise that it does not paint the fullest picture of the breadth of our activities as a Group. This report – the Bank of Ireland Responsible Business Report – further develops our structured formal communication with our various stakeholders.

“A responsible business follows a strategy that delivers sustainable profitability. This report seeks to communicate broader aspects of our approach to responsible sustainability for Bank of Ireland Group. I hope the readers of this report learn a little more about how we view, and do, responsible business; that our colleagues see themselves reflected in this report; and that our customers recognise our activities from their own experience of partnering with us, in both their personal and business lives and in their communities.”

Audrey Nolan, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility & Reporting said:

“In line with best practice internationally we highlight our business practices through the pillars of Customer, Community, Colleagues, Environment and Governance. The report is an important staging post as we strive to continuously improve our business and its impact on our customers, the communities where we live and work, our colleagues and on the environment.”

The Bank of Ireland Responsible Business Report 2015 was reviewed by five guest reviewers: rugby legend Paul O’Connell; Nichola Mullen, Head of Fundraising for The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP), one of the bank’s five flagship charities; world boxing champion Katie Taylor; Declan Egan founder of social enterprise 100minds; and Henry Shefflin, Bank of Ireland’s Head of Customer Recruitment, Give Together Ambassador and hurling great, who stated:

“The report details how employees helped to raise over €2.5 million for charitable organisations, and supported over 1,500 community groups and initiatives including the Bank’s flagship charities: Irish Cancer Society, St Vincent de Paul, Barnardos, Pieta House and Co-operation Ireland. In 2015, the Bank ranked first among companies in Ireland for the generosity of its workforce, according to Business in the Community. I am proud to be part of such a generous workforce.”
