If you make payments after 2.30pm on Friday 15 March
After this cut-off point, payments made within the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) to non-Bank of Ireland payees will not arrive in their accounts before Monday 18 March. In other words, those non-BoI customers will not have access to their funds on Friday 15 March or over the weekend.
Payments to Bank of Ireland payees are not affected.
If you are expecting incoming payments to your BoI accounts
Incoming SEPA payments may also be delayed until Monday 18 March.
Payment types that are affected
- Payments submitted after 2.30pm on Friday 15 March with a processing date of 15 March.
- Future-dated payments submitted on or before Friday 15 March with a processing date of Monday 18 March.
- Standing orders with a processing date of Friday 15 March.
If your payees need earlier access to payments
If this payment delay is likely to impact any non-BoI payees who need access to funds between Friday 15 and Monday 18 (employees getting paid, for example), we recommend that you make earlier payment, on or before Thursday 14 March.
BOI UK customers
Incoming SEPA payments to a BoI UK account may arrive slightly later than usual over the weekend.
Domestic sterling payments and SEPA payments being made from BoI UK accounts will not be affected.
Why is this happening?
This is a planned maintenance window to make regulatory changes to the SEPA Scheme Rulebook. It affects all SEPA member banks. We apologise for any inconvenience.
