Comreg Information

What is COMREG?

COMREG stands for the Commission for Communications Regulation.

What have COMREG decided?

COMREG has let us know that 1850, 1890 and 076 numbers are being withdrawn. All organisations using these numbers, including Bank of Ireland, will be affected by this change.

When will the numbers be withdrawn?

All 1850, 1890 and 076 numbers have been withdrawn from 31 December 2021.

So how can I get through?

We have provided you with the new numbers. Please read the full details below.

Where can I find the new numbers?

1850, 1890 and 076 NGN’s will no longer operate from 31st December.

We have updated the numbers online at www.bankofireland.com. And we have also updated all of our correspondence to you so that it shows you the new numbers.

Can I use the new numbers right away?

Yes. The new numbers are ready to be used, right away.

Why am I being asked to hang-up and redial?

We want to make sure you are familiar with the replacement numbers. After 1 January 2022, if you phone a number starting with 1850, 1890 or 076, the line will not ring and you will not hear the message giving you the new number.

Will I be directed to the same place when I ring the new numbers?

Yes. The new numbers will be directed to the same place.

Will there be any change in cost when I ring the new numbers?

The removal of 1850, 1890 and 076 numbers has been introduced by COMREG to simplify the amount of what are called ‘non-geographic numbers’ (reducing them from five to two). This will give you more clarity on the costs associated with calling these numbers.
The charges for calling into our contact centres are determined by your phone provider. If you have any concerns about your current price plan, please check with your phone provider.
