Bank of Ireland Announces €10 Million Investment in Venturewave Capital’s Impact Ireland USA Fund
7 October 2026 – Bank of Ireland has today announced it will make a €10 million investment in VentureWave Capital’s Impact Ireland USA Fund. This marks the first Irish pillar bank investor in the fund.
The investment represents a significant commitment by a major Irish financial institution to supporting high-growth Irish businesses with the potential to scale internationally, while delivering measurable environmental and social impact.
This is the third Impact Ireland fund managed by VentureWave Capital. It invests commercially in high-growth, mission-driven technology companies across Health, Education, Food & Agriculture, Climate and Sustainable Finance. Its investments are focused on businesses aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. VentureWave Capital’s focus is on impactful Series A/A+ technology companies in these sectors.
Impact investing seeks to generate positive and measurable social or environmental outcomes alongside financial returns. The approach is designed to demonstrate that commercial performance and positive impact can be complementary objectives.
The investment also supports Impact Ireland’s wider ambition to strengthen Ireland’s position as an international centre for impact investment, connecting ambitious Irish companies with international capital, expertise and markets.
Kieran McLoughlin, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of VentureWave Capital, said: “Bank of Ireland becoming our first Irish pillar investor is particularly significant. Impact Ireland was created in Ireland with a global ambition, and having a Irish financial institution with such reach and reputation invest alongside our international partners strengthens both the fund and the businesses we support.
“Bank of Ireland brings an exceptional understanding of Irish enterprise, together with significant financial expertise and a commitment to sustainability. We look forward to the contribution Bank of Ireland can make to the wider Impact Ireland community.”
Myles O’Grady, Group Chief Executive of Bank of Ireland, said: “At the core of Bank of Ireland’s strategy is our strong support for Irish businesses at home and on the global stage. We pair this with a firm commitment to sustainability and to playing our part in helping tackle some of the challenges society faces today.
“This investment enables us to go further in both supporting innovative Irish businesses to scale internationally while also contributing to positive environmental and societal outcomes. Impact Ireland brings together capital, entrepreneurship and international expertise and we’re delighted to be part of it.”
The investment is aligned with Bank of Ireland’s wider sustainability ambitions. The Bank’s updated strategy to 2028 includes support for green transition, housing and social infrastructure, and social inclusion, with the objective of supporting a resilient economy. Sustainability-related lending at Bank of Ireland reached €17.7 billion by the end of 2025, exceeding its €15 billion target, with the Bank working towards a €30 billion sustainable finance ambition by 2030.
Bank of Ireland becomes Impact Ireland’s first Irish pillar investor, joining Bank of America and FM as Pillar Investors in the fund.
The participation of Bank of Ireland, Bank of America and FM brings complementary capabilities and international networks to the fund, creating opportunities for engagement between investors, the Global Advisory Council and Impact Ireland portfolio companies as they seek to grow and scale internationally.
