Bank of Ireland €7million branch upgrades progressing at pace

  • 24 branches across fourteen counties will be refurbished by the end of 2025
  • Range of improvements include new accessibility enhancements

Bank of Ireland today provided an update on its 2025 branch upgrade programme, with refurbishment works in 13 branches completed, work in 4 branches currently underway, and work on a further 7 locations on track for completion by the end of the year. The enhancements are part of the Bank’s €7million branch refurbishment investment in its 169-strong network.

As well as the 13 completed refurbishments listed below, work on 4 more branches in Carlow (Bagenalstown), Longford (Ballymahon), Monaghan town, and Tipperary (Carrick on Suir) is underway.

  • Dublin (Dalkey, Drumcondra, Finglas, Kill of the Grange, Terenure)
  • Roscommon (Boyle)
  • Tipperary (Roscrea)
  • Wicklow (Greystones)
  • Planned works on an additional 7 branches in Cork (Little Island), Mayo (Ballinrobe), Meath (Dunboyne, Kells), Laois (Abbeyleix) and Kildare (Athy) will commence soon and is expected to be wrapped up by the end of 2025.

    Each of the 24 refurbished branches will have a dedicated office to support vulnerable or neurodiverse customers and colleagues. Enhanced wheelchair access has been implemented at several locations, notably a new level access ramp in Donegal town branch.

    Six of the refurbished branches (Ballincollig, Ballyshannon, Blackpool, Donegal, Kill of the Grange and Kilrush) have also had state-of-the-art defibrillator machines installed, ensuring their availability to local communities at all times.

Our overall branch investment, including refurbishments, state-of-the-art ATMs, and life-saving defibrillators, reflects our deep commitment to serving communities. We will continue to invest in our branches, which provide access to cash and other essential banking services for customers.”

    Bank of Ireland also recently provided an update on its nationwide ATM upgrade programme, with 118 new devices now installed across 30 branch locations. This rollout is part of an additional €60 million branch network and ATM infrastructure investment.
