Bank of Ireland offers businesses Heineken Cup Jersey Sponsorship

‘Sponsor for a Day’ competition valued at €50,000, with one lucky winner sponsoring rugby team Leinster and one sponsoring Munster during key Heineken Cup Games

Bank of Ireland is today (Monday 14 October) launching its ‘Sponsor for a Day’ competition, in association with its media partner, Independent News and Media.  The competition is open to all businesses, offering them the opportunity to win a sponsorship package at a Munster or Leinster Heineken Cup game in January 2014. The prize, which is valued at a minimum of €50,000, includes the winner’s company logo on the players’ jerseys during a Heineken Cup match in front of a very large audience both at the games and the TV viewers, as well as coverage in the Irish Independent.

The full prize includes – the winners company logo on the front of the jerseys; pitch signage; corporate hospitality x 10; match programme advert; photographs with the team; profiling support from Bank of Ireland, Munster/ Leinster Rugby and Independent News and Media through press and media for the shortlisted companies and winners. The selected games are Munster v Edinburgh at Thomond Park, Limerick on the weekend of 17 January 2014 and Leinster v Osprey in the RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 on the weekend of 17 January 2014.  The exact date for both has yet to be announced.

The competition, entries for which will be driven through Independent.ie, begins today and participants can enter over the next month. The panel of judges include: Garret Fitzgerald, CEO, Munster Rugby; Mike Dawson, CEO, Leinster Rugby; Richard Curran, Irish Independent, and  Gerry Prizeman, Head of Small Business, Bank of Ireland Business Banking.

Commenting on the competition, Gerry Prizeman said: “This is a wonderful branding and profiling opportunity for two lucky business customers that should be of enormous value to their business.  The competition is open to all businesses in Ireland, regardless of whether they are Bank of Ireland customers or not.  We are delighted to make this opportunity available to help drive support for business customers within the context of the Bank recognising its key role in supporting and building momentum for businesses nationwide.  We are committed to supporting the SME market, representing as it does a core enabler of restoring the economy to full health. We actively encourage both our customers and non-customers to come and talk to us to see how we can help develop their business.”

To enter, participants have to answer a simple question: ‘Name one rugby province that Bank of Ireland sponsor?’ and a tiebreaker: ‘Tell us why your business should be on the front of the Leinster/Munster jersey?’ (in less than 200 words). Entries must be submitted by 20th November 2013.

The judging process begins on 22 November when ten businesses will be shortlisted to the final stage.

Voting on the final ten will then be open to the general public, where people can visit independent.ie/sponsorforaday and vote for their favourite business up until 13 December you can also follow the campaign on Twitter please go to #sponsorforaday.

The winners will be announced on 16 December, on independent.ie/sponsorforaday with the Munster winner sponsoring the Munster v Edinburgh at Thomond Park, Limerick on the weekend of 17 January 2014 and the second winner sponsoring Leinster v Osprey in the RDS, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4 17 January 2014. Both games will be televised on SKY.
