Bank of Ireland announces arrival of Android app

Just three weeks after the successful launch of its iPhone app, Bank of Ireland is delighted to announce that its mobile banking app is now available for Android users.  The addition of the Android app will enable even more of the Bank’s 500,000 personal registered online customers to bank on the go.

Over 45,000 customers have actively used the app in the first three weeks conducting over €10m in payments, 270,000 logins and 290,000 transaction searches.   Currently 16% of all Bank of Ireland group website visits are from mobile devices and this trend is expected to continue throughout 2012.

Commenting on the announcement, Gavin Kelly, Head of Direct Channels, Bank of Ireland, said:

“With over 50,000 downloads of our iPhone app in the first three weeks, it is clear that customers value the ability to manage their money on the go.  We’ve received an extremely positive response to our iPhone app and the launch of Android service today demonstrates our ongoing commitment to make banking easier for our customers.

The Android app, which is available to those running Android 2.2 and above, features the following online services:

  • View balances & Review transaction history

This includes Current, Demand Deposit, Term Loan and Credit Card accounts and the facility to make transfers between accounts.

  • Pay Bills and Transfer Money

Transfer money to the payees and bills registered on 365 online profiles.

  • ATM/Branch Locator

An ATM and branch locator that maps the nearest Bank of Ireland ATM and branch and the facility to search by current location, town, street or branch name.
