Get SCA ready using the app

Strong Customer Authentication is now live. You will need the following when making online purchases with a debit or credit card using the app.

• A debit or credit card.
• To be registered for online banking and download the Bank of Ireland Mobile app.

• To have added your credit card to your 365 online profile. Add accounts to view online

Personal cards

• Debit Card Personal

  • A personal debit card
  • To be registered for online banking
  • To have downloaded the Bank of Ireland app. Make sure to enable notifications

• Credit Card Personal

  Please see check list below for Personal Credit cards

  Note: Main cardholders and additional card holders can now add their credit cards to their own 365 online profile.

  • To have added your credit card to your 365 online profile. Add accounts to view online.

  Please note: If you are an additional cardholder, certain credit card information and services will only be visible to the main account holder and not available to you as an additional cardholder.

Business cards

Please note for business debit cards only: The authorised user (the person who is authorised to use 365 online for the business current account) will now need to confirm that certain online debit card payments are genuine. Business SCA Supports

• Credit Card Business
  • A business credit card in your own name
  • To be registered for online banking
  • To have downloaded the Bank of Ireland Mobile app. Make sure to enable notifications
  • To have added your business credit card to your 365 online profile - you can add a business credit card to an existing 365 online profile.

  Note: If your business credit card is under a different name to your personal or business current account it cannot be added to your existing 365 profile. If this is the case, you will need to set up a separate 365 online profile.
