Unlock or changing your credit card PIN

There are different steps to unlock your credit card PIN, depending on whether it became locked at a cash machine or a point of sale such as a store.

  • To unlock a PIN that was locked at a store or other point of sale
    • Go to a cash machine.
    • Select PIN/Other services
    • Select unlock PIN

Your PIN should now be unlocked

You can view your credit card PIN in the cards section of the Bank of Ireland app or 365 online if the card is linked to your 365 online profile. You can add the card to your profile yourself by selecting Services, then under Manage accounts tap Add account or policy. For more details click here.

You can also request a PIN reminder from us by calling 0818 251 251(9am-5pm, Monday to Friday). This should arrive by post within 5 working days.

  • To unlock a PIN that was locked at a cash machine

Allow 24 hours for it to reset. If you know your PIN you can continue to use it in stores or other points of sale.

Always take care with your PIN. Only you should know what it is. Never write it down, do not keep your card and PIN together and make sure nobody can see your number when you're tapping it in.

  • Changing your PIN

You can change your credit card PIN at any cash machine that displays the MasterCard symbol.

    • Go to a cash machine.
    • Select PIN/Other services.
    • Select Change PIN.
    • Follow the screen prompt to enter your new credit card PIN twice

Your PIN should now be changed
