How do I transfer money using digital banking?

Republic of Ireland customers can use the following digital channels to make a transfer to another account:

  • Upgraded Bank of Ireland App
  • 365 online (original and Upgraded site)
  • Mobile Banking app
  • Tablet Banking app

Northern Ireland and Great Britain customers can use:

  • Upgraded Bank of Ireland App
  • 365 online (original and Upgraded site)
  • Tablet Banking app

To make a transfer, you must first add and activate a payee, then follow these steps:

  1. Log in to 365 online.
  2. Tap 'Money Transfer'.
  3. Select the type of transfer.
  4. Choose an account to transfer from and tap 'Continue'.
  5. Choose an account to transfer to.
  6. Enter the amount, amend the reference (if required) and tap 'Continue',
  7. Enter the 3 requested digits of your 6-digit 365 PIN.
  8. A confirmation screen will appear giving you an opportunity to print this information. You can also save it as a PDF.

Transfer cut-off times:

  • Republic of Ireland: 3:30pm
  • Northern Ireland and Great Britain: 4:30pm

What is a payee?

Important: This version of the Bank of Ireland mobile banking app will soon no longer be available. Please go to the Play store (Android) or App Store (iPhone) now to update to the new app. Not sure which app you have? Click here.

You must first add a Payee and activate the Payee then you can follow these simple steps

  1. Tap Transfers on the bottom menu
  2. Choose the account to Pay from then
  3. Choose the type of transfer – Pay a Person or a Bill
  4. Choose from your list of payees
  5. Enter the Amount you wish to transfer
  6. If required you can change Message to Payee (tap to amend)
  7. Tap Continue, confirm the details of the transfer then tap Yes if you wish to proceed
  8. Enter the 3 requested digits of your 6 digit 365 PIN.

A confirmation screen will appear

Transfer cut-off times :

  • Cut-off time for ROI - 3:30pm
  • Cut-off time for UK - 4:30pm

What is a payee?

To transfer money to someone, you must first add and activate them as a payee. Once this is complete, follow the steps below:

  1. Select the account you wish to transfer from.
  2. Select who to transfer to. Chose from:
    • My Accounts; or
    • Your list of payees
  3. Enter the amount you wish to transfer and tap 'Submit'.
  4. Select when you would like to make this payment:
    • Today; or
    • Future date (where available)
  5. Tap 'Continue'.
  6. If required, add a reason for payment or edit the reference, then tap 'Continue'.
  7. View important information such as cut-off times and daily limits, then tap 'Continue'.
  8. Enter the 3 requested digits of your 6-digit 365 PIN and tap 'Submit'. A confirmation screen will appear summarising your transfer request.

Transfer cut-off times:

  • Republic of Ireland: 3.30pm
  • Northern Ireland and Great Britain: 4.30pm

The Tablet Banking app uses drag and drop when making selections.

  4. Choose an account to pay from.

  7. Tap 'Continue'.
  8. Enter the 3 requested digits of your 6-digit 365 PIN.
  9. Swipe to approve.

Transfer cut-off times:

  • Republic of Ireland - 3:30pm
  • Northern Ireland and Great Britain - 4:30pm

What is a payee?

  2. Click 'Payments' on the top menu.
  3. Select 'Send money or pay a bill'.
  4. Choose an account to pay from.
  5. Choose a payee to pay to.
  6. Enter the amount you wish to transfer and any other details requested.
  7. Click 'Continue'.
  8. Enter the 3 requested digits of your 6-digit 365 PIN.
  9. A notification will be sent to the security device quoted on screen.

    On your Security device – Smart device

  10. Tap the notification on your security device to open authentication screen – you will not be asked to log into your security device
  11. Swipe to accept. - The notification will disappear from your device automatically or you can tap ‘Done’

Transfer cut-off times:

  • Republic of Ireland - 3:30pm
  • Northern Ireland and Great Britain - 4:30pm
