What is the cross-border handling fee that I will be charged if I use my Debit Card abroad?

Yes. A cross-border handling fee can apply when you use your Visa Debit Card for purchases in a foreign currency, or use an ATM* to withdraw foreign currency. The fee varies depending on how the card is used see details below.

Euro Transactions All other transactions (Cross-border handling fee)
Visa Debit (ATM) 25c 3.5% of transaction value. Minimum €3.17, Maximum €11.43 per transaction
Visa Debit (Point of Sale) 10c 2% of transaction value.  Maximum €11.43 per transaction
Visa Debit Contactless (Point of Sale) 1c 2% of transaction value.  Maximum €11.43 per transaction

*There is no fee for using your Visa Debit Card in a Bank of Ireland or Post Office ATM in Northern Ireland or Britain when making a sterling cash withdrawal. You will be charged a cross-border handling fee if you use any other ATMs in Northern Ireland or Britain.
