Security device explained

A security device provides additional security, using Strong Customer Authentication, when you access and manage your online banking.

You can register your smartphone or tablet as a security device by downloading the Bank of Ireland app and completing the set up process. You will receive an activation code by text to your registered mobile phone number as part of the set up process. You can receive the text on the same smartphone you are setting up as a security device.
