3D Secure - Jargon Buster

3D Secure is like an extra safety step when you pay online using your bank card. You might see ‘Verified by Visa’– this is a type of 3D secure.

Its purpose is to ‘authenticate’ or prove that it’s really you that is using the Visa Debit card when you’re buying something online. After you put in your card details, the website will often send you to a secure page from your bank for this authentication.
