Standing Orders and Direct Debits on a closed account

Before submitting a Close Account Request please ensure any pending Direct Debits and/or Standing Orders due on your account are cancelled as once your Close Account Request instruction is processed, your account will be immediately blocked. This means any pending transactions may be rejected.

If you want to move your Standing Orders and Direct Debits, to another bank in the Republic of Ireland, you should use the Account Switching process instead. This process will transfer over any Direct Debits, Standing Orders and any credit account balance you have on this account. You will also be given the option to close your Bank of Ireland current account through the account switching process.
