Bank of Ireland to open new Ardkeen Branch early in 2016

- Key initiative in €2million investment for Waterford

Bank of Ireland today [16 October 2015] announced that it will open a new flagship branch in Ardkeen as part of a €2m investment for Waterford. The Ardkeen branch is set to open early in 2016 and follows a major refurbishment and modernisation at branches in Lisduggan and The Quay. This significant investment is part of the Bank’s focus on its extensive footprint of branches in Ireland.

Commenting on the announcement, Ian Mernagh, Area Manager, Bank of Ireland said: “Opening a new Ardkeen Branch, in addition to the extensive remodelling at branches at the Quay and Lisduggan, demonstrates Bank of Ireland’s strong commitment to Waterford. This significant investment in the region ensures that our customers benefit from the highest standards of service and delivery when they partner with us.”

Bank of Ireland has identified Ardkeen as one of the fastest growing regions in Waterford. The new branch location was selected as a result of population growth and major residential and commercial development in the area in recent years. The addition of a branch in Ardkeen demonstrates the Bank’s focus on the provision of quality banking services to new emerging communities. As one of the Bank’s ‘new concept’ branches, Ardkeen will incorporate an open-front design, innovative interior and will feature a digital wall and zones to allow customers to interact with the full range of Bank of Ireland services.

As part of this new major investment plan for Waterford, services at the Parnell Street outlet will be phased out over the next few weeks as Bank of Ireland re-directs city centre customers to its newly refurbished premises on The Quay.

Ian Mernagh, Area Manager, Bank of Ireland concluded: “As the largest lender to the Irish economy, our national branch network is of vital importance to us and this continued investment ensures we are strongly embedded with the local community in Waterford. Our strategic focus on a commercially viable network of branches that are supported by the community ensures that we are the provider of financial services in over 250 urban and rural towns and cities throughout the Republic of Ireland, and complements the ongoing developments in our online and mobile banking services.”

The Bank will issue further details on the plans and opening date for the Ardkeen branch in due course.
