Bank of Ireland Global Markets today (Monday, 28 November 2005) announced further details of its growth strategy to double profits over five years and see 20% of revenues coming from new income streams. The elements of the strategy announced today include new teams and new international offices to further drive domestic and international growth.
Specifically, this includes:
Deirdre Flannery appointed Head of Global Customer Business
Deirdre Flannery joins the team as Head of Global Customer Business. Deirdre
will be responsible for further developing and leveraging Global Market's highly
successful Irish customer business as well as leading its international growth
strategy.
Deirdre is a chartered accountant and joined the Bank of Ireland Group in 1990,
from Ulster Investment Bank. She previously held a number of senior customer
facing roles within the Group including Corporate Banking in both its domestic
and international markets.
Peter Goshawk appointed Head of Global Markets - UK
As part of a major expansion into the UK, Global Markets has opened a new treasury
operation in London. Peter Goshawk, formally Group Treasurer, Barclays Bank
plc has been appointed Head of Global Markets UK and will be responsible for
leading this major expansion into the UK. Peter has held a number of Executive
positions within the Barclays Group and was involved in the formulation of Barclay's
Group strategy and its execution.
In addition, Tom Turney and Phil Smith join the UK team from HSBC's successful
trade finance business. They will drive Global Market's ambition to be a strong
player in the UK trade finance market. Plans are also underway to recruit additional
specialists and teams.
Set for expansion in US with recruitment of American Express team
As part of Global Market's targeted expansion in the US, Matt Porio and Darsh
Mariyappa have joined the US team to drive very ambitious growth plans to deliver
new revenue streams.
Matt Porio has over 17 years of global capital markets experience, and most
recently was Head of Financial Markets Services at American Express New York.
Previously Matt was one of three chief dealers and Head of Institutional Sales
at Chase Manhattan.
Darsh Mariyappa has over 15 years global capital markets experience, and most
recently was Global Head of Interest Rate and Emerging Market products at American
Express New York. Prior to that he was Head of Asia Treasury and Global Head
of Trading at Fleet Boston Financial, Boston and Singapore.
