How can I pay my credit card account and what are the time frames?
There are a number of ways to make a payment to your Bank of Ireland credit card account:
- Payment can be made by cash or cheque in any Bank of Ireland branch. Cash payments to your credit card made in Bank of Ireland branches are credited to your account on the same day and become part of your available credit the following day.
- Payment can be made by calling Bank of Ireland 365 phone on 1890 365 365, or online at http://www.365online.com/. Payments made via 365 services take 24hrs to process. Payments made on Friday or over the weekend will be posted to your account the next working day. Payments made over the weekend may take longer to be credited to your account.
- Paying by direct debit is a convenient way of ensuring that future monthly minimum payments are collected from your bank account on the due date.

How can I view my credit card transactions online?
Currently you must hold a Bank of Ireland current account to view your credit card online. To set the credit card up to view online you must call Banking 365 on 1890 365 365.
Are there any charges for using my credit card abroad and if so what are they?
Within the Eurozone there are no additional charges for using your card to make purchases. Outside the Eurozone a cross border handling fee of 1.75% applies on all transactions regardless of whether your credit card account is in credit or not.
When withdrawing cash, a cash withdrawal fee of €2.54 or 1.5% whichever is greater, applies unless your credit card account is in credit when the transaction hits the account or has a zero balance after the transaction is completed.
What are the cash advance fees for withdrawing cash from my credit card?
The Cash Advance fee is 1.5% of withdrawal amount with a minimum charge of €2.54.
How do I unlock/change my credit card pin?
Should your credit card pin become blocked at a point of sale, go to a Bank of Ireland ATM & enter your card and pin number. Select the option for other services and then the option to unlock pin number. Pins blocked at an ATM will reset after 24hrs.
You can change your credit card pin at any Bank of Ireland ATM. Select the option for other services followed by the option to change pin. You will then be prompted to enter your new credit card pin number twice. Your credit card pin number will then be changed.
What is the timeframe for replacing a credit card and pin reminder?

Can I cancel a direct debit over the phone that I have set up to pay on my credit card?
No, you need to contact the company with whom you have direct debit set up with to cancel. Customers must contact the 3rd party service provider directly to cancel a direct debit mandate/subscription on their credit card. It is advisable to confirm your cancellation request in writing. If the company do not respond to your request and continue to request payment from your credit card account please notify us. We will require a copy of the cancellation letter you sent to the 3rd party supplier confirming your request. Please include your credit card number on a cover letter and forward to: Bank of Ireland, Chargebacks Department, PO Box 1102, Dublin 2.
I have paid for goods with my credit card and have not received them - What should I do?
We would advise customers to contact the supplier of the goods to resolve the situation. If the supplier does not respond or the situation is not rectified please contact us in writing detailing the situation and we will investigate this on your behalf. Please include copies of any correspondence between yourself and the supplier including the original order confirmation and forward to: Bank of Ireland, Chargebacks Department, PO Box 1102, Dublin 2
What do I do if a company goes into liquidation, and I have purchased a service/product from them using my credit card?
If a company goes into liquidation, you may have chargeback rights for goods/services paid for on your credit card but not yet received. In order for us to investigate this on your behalf please contact us and send us details including the invoice for the purchase, proof of payment and a cover letter stating that you have attempted to contact the merchant. If a holiday company/airline goes into liquidation customers should contact commission for aviation regulation in Ireland on 01 6611700, or in the UK the civil aviation authority on 0044 1293573725.
How do I request a copy of a previous statement?
Copy statements can be requested for the previous 12months statements by calling 1890 251 251. Please be aware that charges apply for these copy statements - €3.90 for the first page of each individual statement and €2.50 for each subsequent page of statement.

Please post payments to PO Box 16120, Dublin 1. Please ensure you enclose the bank giro from the bottom of your credit card statement.

If you need to make a claim, you can obtain a claim form from Genworth Financial whose telephone is +353 61 73 73 73 or alternatively write to: Genworth Financial, PO Box 602, Shannon, County Clare.
How do I cancel my payment protection or purchase protection insurance?
Please send in your request in writing to Clerical, Bank of Ireland, Clerical Department, PO Box 1102, Dublin 2. Please reference your credit card details.
How often can I apply for a Limit Increase?
You may request a review of your credit limit every 6 months. Credit limit increases are subject to terms and conditions.
If you set up a new direct debit to pay your credit card bill, how long will it take to take effect?
It will take one full billing cycle for a direct debit mandate to take effect. Therefore you would need to ensure you make a payment manually until direct debit has been set up.
How do I avoid paying interest on my credit card?
To avoid paying interest on your credit card, ensure your pay your outstanding balance in full each month before the due date. Please be aware that it may take up to 3 working days for payment to reach you account.
What is a CVV number?
CVV Number is the 3 digits displayed on the signature panel of your card; this is normally requested for mail order transactions.
What is Government Stamp Duty?
Government stamp duty is a Government tax. We collect this tax on behalf of the revenue each year on April 1st for the previous year or upon account closure. GSD on credit cards is currently €30. Further details on Government Stamp Duty can be found on www.revenue.ie.
How do I cancel a subscription/3rd party direct debit on my credit card?
Customers must contact the 3rd party service provider directly to cancel a direct debit mandate/subscription on their credit card. It is advisable to confirm your cancellation request in writing. If the company do not respond to your request and continue to request payment from your credit card account please notify us. We will require a copy of the cancellation letter you sent to the 3rd party supplier confirming your request. Once we have received a copy of your cancellation request we can chargeback the transaction on your behalf.
How can I report a lost or stolen card?
To report your Bank of Ireland Credit Card lost/stolen please telephone the appropriate number listed below. If you lose your Bank of Ireland Credit Card, or if it is stolen, please advise us IMMEDIATELY. Otherwise, you will be liable for any losses incurred up to the time you do actually report the loss to us.

What do I do if I enter my PIN for my Credit Card incorrectly?
Remember you have three attempts to get your PIN correct before your card is locked. If you remember your PIN you can unblock your card at an ATM or you can request a new PIN by calling 1890 365 010.
