New Ireland?s Financial Reporting team is responsible for the reporting of Company Accounts, Group Accounts (on both IFRS and Embedded Value bases) and Management Accounts. In addition the unit is responsible for:
The Company?s budgeting and forecasting process
Tax, which includes the calculation, remittance and strategic approach to taxation on the different bases required by Revenue
The production, analysis and interpretation of financial Management Information (MI) for the business along with the development of actions in response.
The Financial Reporting team are seeking to recruit a focused and enthusiastic person who will be part of the tax team. The person will report into the Tax Accountant and will primarily be responsible for assisting in meeting all tax filing requirements under various tax heads and providing support and tax advice to the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation on a quarterly basis of the tax provisioning numbers for New Ireland Assurance Plc and subsidiaries
- Preparation/ review of various tax returns e.g. Corporation Tax, UK Non Resident Landlord Income Tax, VAT (both ROI and UK), Life Assurance Exit tax, Pension Levy and Premium Levy
- Providing advice on adhoc queries from the business, which includes researching the relevant topic and preparing the appropriate advice
- Review changes in legislation, in particular after publication of the annual Budget and Finance Acts by the Department of Finance
- Active management of New Ireland Assurance's overseas tax charge with a view to minimising unrecoverable tax
- Providing support on adhoc projects as required
Essential Key Requirements:
- Qualified Tax professional
- Detailed knowledge of tax legislation and current Revenue practices
- Excellent numerical skills and aptitude for detailed work.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- IT skills, particularly high level of proficiency in excel, including pivot tables
- Excellent organisational skills. Demonstrated experience of managing priorities and delivery to tight deadlines.
- Flexible approach and adaptable to change
- 5 Grade D's in Ordinary Leaving certificate subjects; or equivalent.

Desirable Key Requirements:
- Experience in life and pensions tax
- Qualified/ Part Qualified accountant would be an advantage
- The ability to interpret and understand financial and business information and make the associated recommendations for action
- A commitment to delivering a consistently high level of service and the ability to communicate with various service providers
- Demonstrated ability to work on own and as part of a team, while able to manage various different tasks
- Experience of using ROS (Revenue Online Service including the ROS offline application)
- Attention to detail
- Investigative ability/aptitude
- Good time management
